Is this a San Diego thing? A California thing?

We just moved here, and I noticed a little annoying thing. None of the faucets seem to produce Cold Water. I can get room-temperature water, which is certainly colder than the Hot Water... but even if I run the tap for a while, the temp never gets colder. I'd like to be able to pour a glass and be refreshed, but that doesn't seem likely. In fact, I haven't even gotten cold water from any drinking fountains, either! So... what's the deal?

More like a Southern Cali thing, since the weather is warmer than it's northern counterpart. But I could be wrong...maybe the whole state. Or other warm weather states.

I lived in SD most of my life, and then moved to two states where the winters are harsh, (snow plenty!), and presently still living in one of them, where cold water runs frigid out of the tap. Especially in the late fall and winter.

Anyway, as mentioned above, the only H2O fountains that will produce very, cold, Drinking Water, are the fountains that have refrigeration built in. (Most, if not all, gyms have refrigerated water fountains). Water fountains with refrigeration built in are typically more expensive to purchase/maintain, than the standard fountains you may find outdoors.

When I go home to visit SD, yes, the cold water tap typically doesn't run colder the longer you run it. Many San Diegans add ice if getting water from the tap; or most own refrigerators that have the water and ice dispenser built into the outside the door, or keep a water pitcher in the fridge to have cold drinking water on hand.

Of course hot water will hot, and get hotter since houses are built with water heaters.
